Q: What is Pilates?
A: Pilates exercises as a whole develop strong abdominal, back, butt and deep postural muscles to support the skeletal system and act as what Pilates called the "power house of the body." The Pilates Method works to strengthen the center, lengthen the spine, increase body awareness, build muscle tone, and gain flexibility. The Pilates Method is also an excellent rehabilitation system for back, knee, hip, shoulder, and repetitive stress injuries. Pialtes address the body as a whole, correcting the body's asymmetries and chronic weakness to prevent the re-injury and bring the body back into balance. Pilates works the body as an integrated whole and therefore balances the body.*
Q: What are the benefits of Pilates?
A:
Q: What should I wear?
A: The most form-fitting clothers that you are comfortable wearing. Why? So that your instructor can clearly see your alignment while training. Precision of each exercise is key to pilates in order to get results.
Q: What is Pilates apparatus?
A: It is equipment that adds resistance created by the pulley and spring system providing a more challenging strength and endurance workout than mat work alone. It may also produce visible results sooner- arm, leg and abdominal muscles can look more firm and defined within a dozen or so regular sessions. Unlike traditional weight training which isolates and works some muscles while neglecting others., Pilates equipment trains muscles in a lengthened position resulting in a lithe and strong physique.
